Brick by brick: Your generosity builds a strong foundation for Haitian children

This fall, when LakayTimoun opens for the 2022-23 school year, more than 175 students are expected. There has to be somewhere to put them!

The word continues to spread about the safe, loving and sound educational and life-enrichment opportunities at LakayTimoun. And the needs are real. The nation continues to be in chaos. But LakayTimoun is haven.

 With the help of generous supporters just like you, LakayTimoun has built a half-dozen classroom for children kindergarten through fifth grade. Three more classrooms for preschoolers are underway.

Your help is urgently needed to complete them.

In honor of founder Suzelle Pierre Louis' 60th birthday, we're launching a $60K for 60 campaign. This will not only complete the preschool classrooms, but also provide solar power for electricity, office space and concrete for the pavilion floor.

Thanks to a generous large donation, the next classrooms are underway. The roof and doors (at an estimated cost of $17,000) are the next ask. In recent years, we've grown by leaps and bounds, adding not only permanent classrooms but also bathrooms and a kitchen. Students who attend are ensured both schooling and meals.

Work is being done by locals in a true community effort, proceeding as supplies and funding are available.

The additional space allows LakayTimoun to continue broadening our impact on the local area, not only offering essential education for kids, but also solid work and salaries for teachers and other staff.  

From the very beginning, LakayTimoun has stretched every dollar through faith, strategy and divine intervention. We have seen God move in miraculous ways, coming through with just what we need, again and again, at just the right time.
